Shah Rukh Khan’s much-awaited action thriller ‘King’ is entering the closing stages of production, with principal photography nearly wrapped even as key post-production elements, including music and visual effects, remain a work in progress ahead of its December release.
According to trade reports, the Siddharth Anand directorial has completed the bulk of its shoot across multiple schedules, with the unit’s most recent leg focused on the film’s final song sequence along with a handful of remaining patch-up scenes.
The makers are said to be keeping details of the song under wraps, though sources have described it as carrying a special element central to the film. Visual effects work, given the scale of the production, is reported to be well advanced, though not yet fully complete, with the team continuing to work in parallel on VFX coordination even as the last portions of filming wrap up.
Earlier reports had indicated the production was down to a single international schedule, with the makers scouting locations across the United States and South America for a climactic sequence, as director Siddharth Anand and Shah Rukh Khan looked to shoot in a setting not commonly seen in Indian cinema.
With that leg now believed to be behind them, the focus has shifted to tying up the film’s music, background score and remaining post-production work in the months ahead of release.
‘King’ is produced by Gauri Khan, Siddharth Anand and Mamta Anand under Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures, and marks the first on-screen collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and his daughter, Suhana Khan.
The ensemble cast also includes Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Arshad Warsi and Rani Mukerji. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on December 24.
